LICENCE FEE ADJUSTMENTS NOW IN FORCE

Speedway Australia has released an updated schedule of fees effective from the start of the 2021/22 season, with important adjustments for some sectors of the community to take note of.

A combination of external and internal pressures has led to unavoidable increases, but many licence holders will notice no change to the amounts that they pay. The entire industry has worked hard over recent years to increase efficiency and reduce risk, and it’s still pleasing that this is the first time that fees have altered since 2015.

Most adult licence holders will notice a $5 or $10 increase when they licence from today, but we are pleased to advise that all Officials, Pit Crew and Pit Entry licences are unchanged, as are all Junior divisions other than Formula 500’s and SKAA Karts. To encourage drivers to take advantage of learning in a lower-stress environment, one day licences for practice events are also unchanged.

Speedway Australia has operated a tiered competition licensing system for many years, based on the premise that a division with a V8 engine option would pay a higher licence fee. That risk assumption has been proven to be in need of refinement, and we’ve now moved to adjust some particular divisions to a higher licence category. Competitors in both Formula 500’s and SKAA Karts will now require the equivalent of a Speedway Australia AA licence, and Junior licences have also been increased for these categories.

This decision has not been arrived at lightly and is the result of more than two decades of detailed real-world analysis. Full details of the fee structure now in operation are as noted in the graphic.
