Some EdCo Partner schools have strict deadlines for admissions, others offer rolling admissions. the timeline below offers a good starting point for most families.
August ( before your child's 8th grade year)
- Think about what you’re looking for in a high school.
- Begin researching schools that meet your child’s needs.
- Create a list of schools you’d like to learn more about.
- Visit those schools' websites and request admissions/financial aid materials.
September (of your child's 8th grade year)
- Review admissions materials and decide which schools to visit.
- Make note of school Open House dates.
- Plan a school visit, take a tour. Many schools offer a chance for students to "shadow" for a full day, If interested, register for a shadow date for your student.
- Keep a calendar of deadlines for admission and financial aid requirements for schools of interest.
- Register for admissions tests and test prep classes if desired.
October (of your child's 8th grade year)
- Attend Open Houses, information sessions and take tours.
- Finalize the list of schools to which you will apply.
- Take standardized admission tests, if applicable.
November (of your child's 8th grade year)
- Students take Entrance/Placement and Scholarship exams.
- Start working on applications, financial aid forms, student questionnaires, essays, etc.
December
- Complete remaining application requirements for admissions, scholarships, and/or financial aid.
January
- Admissions notices are sent. Pay careful attention to deadline dates for enrollment forms and deposits.
March to early September (leading into your child's 9th grade)
- Attend events and activities for new parents and students during the spring and summer.
- Look into summer programs offered at most schools for new students.
